Xavier Woods On Safeties Selected Ahead Of Him In Draft: "I Believe I Was The Best"

August 07, 2018 - 4:23 pm

OXNARD (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys safety Xavier Woods believes he was the best safety in the class of 2017 despite being selected in the sixth round out of Lousiana Tech.

20 safeties were selected ahead of Woods in last year's draft. Among them, were first-rounders Jamal Adams, Malik Hooker, and Jabrill Peppers.

Woods played in all 16 games for Dallas last season but was forced into cornerback duty for a majority of his time on the field. He had 33 solo tackles and one interception.

Woods is currently slated to start at free safety for Dallas this season unless they end up acquiring Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas.

When asked about the Thomas rumors, Woods wasn't bothered by it.

"It's none of my business. I'm focused on me being the best I can be," Woods said.
