Redskins Release CB Orlando Scandrick

August 14, 2018 - 8:07 am

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Former Dallas Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick has been released by the Washington Redskins.

After he was released by the Cowboys last season, Scandrick signed a 2-year deal with the Redskins.

When asked to comment on the veteran's release, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said Scandrick was let go due to how well their rookies are performing in camp.

"It has nothing to do with his play," Gruden told reporters, including Kimberley A. Martin of the Washington Post. "It was really the emergence of the rookies and (we) wanted Orlando to latch on to another team ... No one could have predicted (the play) of Texada or Danny Johnson."

Scandrick got a $1M bonus when he signed with Washington.
