Tony Romo Opens Up On His Career In Podcast With Brad Sham

March 23, 2018 - 3:03 pm

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo joined play-by-play man Brad Sham on the Then And Now podcast to talk about his time with the Cowboys and much more.

One of the more interesting highlights of the discussion came when Sham asked Romo when he started to realize it might be the time to retire.

"I think it probably started a little before then even. So the only good thing, I would argue, about having back surgery is that you start to see the end of the line sooner than you probably start," Romo said. "That's a rarity for a football player. Usually, I would argue, most people are caught off guard and when it ends it ends pretty quickly and abruptly. My first back surgery I think was in '13, so I think it really gave me pause to start to think about what I want to do with my life. You had to at least start to think about that. That probably helped me transition, honestly, when I decided to go away from football. I was more prepared because of the physical limitation that basically was happening over those three years or so. At the time you never see it that way."
