Texas High School Football Preview: Week 4

ALLEN (3-0) vs. PLANO (1-2) - MOVED TO THURSDAY

District opener in 9-6A...6A #1 Allen has won 19 straight after beating Coppell in weather-shortened game last week, 21-0...QB Grant Tisdale was 7 of 9 for 72 yards last week, also ran for 60 yards and a TD...RB Celdon Manning ran for 84 yards and a score...Allen is averaging 37.7 points per game, allowing only 6.7 points per game...Allen head coach Terry Gambill got his 100th career win last week.

Plano lost to 2-0 Rowlett last week, 24-17...Wildcats are allowing 33.3 points per game...Plano QB Cole Winnett threw for 163 yards and 2 TD last week.

DENTON RYAN (2-0) at WEST MESQUITE (1-1) - THURSDAY

Denton Ryan is ranked #3 in the state in 5A...Raiders were off last week...Ryan has defeated Mesquite Poteet and Keller Fossil Ridge so far this year...Ryan opens district play vs. Denton High next week...Denton Ryan is allowing 220 yards per game this season.

West Mesquite comes off a 54-42 win over 6A Keller Timber Creek...Wranglers' only loss is to Hutto in season opener...West Mesquite opens district play at Wylie East next week.

MANSFIELD TIMBERVIEW (1-2) at DALLAS WOODROW WILSON (3-0) - THURSDAY

This is the district opener in 6-5A Div. 1...Timberview had close losses to 6A Mansfield Lake Ridge and Bixby, OK in non-district play...Timberview's win is over Arlington Seguin...Timberview faces city rival Mansfield Legacy next week.

Woodrow Wilson has racked up three early wins over Frisco High, Frisco Heritage and Wylie East...Head Coach Bobby Estes is 135-88 at Woodrow...They play at state-ranked Highland Park (district favorite) next week.

DeSOTO (3-0) at WAXAHACHIE (1-2)

District opener in 7-6A - one of the toughest districts in the state...DeSoto beat Dallas Bishop Dunne last week, 19-7...QB Shun'Darion Ward threw for a TD, ran for a TD vs. Bishop Dunne...DeSoto is allowing only 15 points per game.

Waxahachie comes off losses to 2-1 Mesquite Poteet and 2-1 Flower Mound Marcus...Last week vs. Marcus, Waxahachie QB Jordan Fay threw for 109 yards, ran for 74.

CEDAR HILL (3-0) vs. GRAND PRAIRIE (1-2)

District opener in 7-6A...Cedar Hill has come roaring out of the gate, with wins over Tyler John Tyler, Denton Guyer and Mesquite Horn...Longhorns are averaging 42 points per game, allowing only 10.7 points per game...Cedar Hill QB Shayne Lawrence was 15 of 19 for 200 yards and 2 TD last week.

Grand Prairie has been shut out by Mesquite and Keller...Gophers looking to get offense in gear, as they are averaging 8 points per game so far this season.

MANSFIELD HIGH (1-2) at MANSFIELD SUMMIT (1-1)

Mansfield brings some momentum into 7-6A district opener, after beating 5A Mansfield Legacy last week, 14-7...Mansfield RB Josh Littleberry ran for 145 and a TD last week.

Mansfield Summit comes off 24-21 loss to 5A Mesquite Poteet last week...This is the first district game for Summit as a 6A school, after they moved up in class in the latest UIL realignment...Summit hopes to avenge 26-6 loss to Mansfield in September 2017.

MANSFIELD LAKE RIDGE (1-1) at SOUTH GRAND PRAIRIE (1-2)

Lake Ridge is playing its first district game as a 6A school, after moving up in class this year...Lake Ridge comes off 36-31 win over 5A Mansfield Timberview...Lake Ridge QB Chandler Rogers threw for 243 yards last week, ran for 128...Lake Ridge RB Dewone Jackson ran for 128 yards and 3 TD vs. Timberview.

South Grand Prairie comes into district play after beating 5A Lancaster in overtime last week, 13-7...SGP has faced a tough schedule so far, with losses to 3-0 Southlake Carroll, 3-0 Haslet Eaton...Warriors scored winning touchdown in overtime last week on reverse by Javarias Crawford.

DALLAS JESUIT (1-2) at PLANO WEST (0-3)

9-6A district opener...Jesuit comes off 35-14 win over 0-3 Wylie...Jesuit's losses are to 2-0 Arlington, 3-0 DeSoto...Jesuit QB Kevin Shuman had 307 total yards and 2 TD last week...Jesuit should again be a strong contender for a playoff berth this season.

Plano West lost to Mesquite last week, 44-20...Plano West allows 45 points per game.

McKINNEY HIGH (0-3) at PROSPER (3-0)

9-6A district opener...McKinney comes off 38-20 loss to Richardson Pearce...McKinney is allowing 30 points per game this season...RB Cordrick Dunn ran for 321 yards and 2 TD last week vs. Pearce.

In its first year in 6A, Prosper is off to a red-hot start...they beat Flower Mound last week, 52-21...Prosper RB Wayne Anderson ran for 134 yards and 2 TD, QB Keegan Shoemaker had 2 TD passes vs. Flower Mound...Prosper is averaging 52 points per game this season.

McKINNEY BOYD (0-3) vs. PLANO EAST (3-0)

Another opener in District 9-6A...Boyd lost to Lewisville last week, 34-21.

Plano East should be strong contender for playoff spot...PESH is allowing only 7 points per game after wins over Hurst LD Bell, Lake Highlands and Sachse.

GARLAND (0-3) vs. SOUTH GARLAND (2-1)

GARLAND NAAMAN FOREST (0-3) at ROWLETT (2-0)

SACHSE (0-3) vs. WYLIE (0-3)

GARLAND LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL (2-0) vs. NORTH GARLAND (3-0)

MESQUITE POTEET (2-1) at TYLER LEE (1-2)

Poteet is coming off wins over 6A Mansfield Summit and 6A Waxahachie...Pirates' only loss is to 2-0 Denton Ryan.

Tyler Lee got its first win last week, beating Nacogdoches, 49-39...Lee is allowing 48.7 points per game this season.

DALLAS ADAMS (0-3) vs. HIGHLAND PARK (3-0)

District opener...Adams has had a rough start, averaging only 7 points per game this season.

Two-time defending 5AD1 champion Highland Park is a heavy favorite to win another district title...#2-ranked Scots have wins over 6A Rockwall, 6A Mesquite Horn and state-ranked Frisco Lone Star...Highland Park got a field goal on the final play last week to beat Lone Star, 10-7...HP faces 3-0 Dallas Woodrow Wilson next week.

LANCASTER (0-2) at MANSFIELD LEGACY (1-2)

District opener...Lancaster has played a tough early schedule, losing to 6A Duncanville and 6A South Grand Prairie (13-7 loss in overtime last week)...Tigers looking to get offense going - they are averaging only 3.5 points per game.

Legacy lost a defensive struggle with 6A Mansfield High last week, 14-7.

DALLAS SOUTH OAK CLIFF (2-0) at RED OAK (3-0)

Great matchup in district opener...SOC has wins over Dallas Skyline and Wilmer-Hutchins...SOC is allowing only 6.3 points per game.

Red Oak has already beaten Denton Braswell, Princeton and Frisco Heritage...Red Oak defense forced 5 turnovers, had 5 sacks last week vs. Frisco Heritage.

ENNIS (0-2, 0-1) at NORTH FORNEY (1-2, 0-1)

Ennis fell to Kaufman in district opener last week, 37-7...Ennis WR Zion Dove had 7 receptions for 100 yards vs. Kaufman.

North Forney lost to Forney High in district opener, 39-35...North Forney RB Jacob Soto ran for 109 yards and 2 TD last week.

SPRINGTOWN (3-0) at KENNEDALE (2-1)

This one features two high-powered offenses...Springtown has wins over 5A Fort Worth Arlington Heights, Sanger and Glen Rose (won 49-43 last week)...Porcupines are averaging 49.3 points per game.

Kennedale beat 0-3 Alvarado last week, 42-40...Kennedale Sr. RB DJ Kirven ran for 200 yards and 4 TD last week.
