DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick has been traded from the Miami Dolphins to Pittsburgh Steelers for a 2020 first round pick.

Adam Schefter is reporting the trade:

The Dolphins are hoping that the pick turns out to be a high selection. The Steelers have started the season 0-2 and just lost starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for the year due to injury.

Fitzpatrick has been the subject of trade speculation for some time now, with the Dallas Cowboys being one of the teams rumored to be interested in the defensive back.

Cowboys Executive Vice President, CEO, and Director of Player Personnel Stephen Jones was quick to quell those rumors, telling 105.3 The Fan that no current player available is worth a first-round pick.

The Dolphins selected Fitzpatrick with the 11th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He has played in all 18 possible games, starting 13 of those games, and has made 91 tackles, intercepted two passes, recovered one fumble and scored one defensive touchdown.

The Dolphins now have 3 first round picks in the 2020 NFL draft including their own:

They suit up against the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday at 12 pm CT.
