ARLINGTON (105.3 The Fan) - It may be the Rangers first off-day this season on the field, but it certainly isn't off the field.

According to a report from Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News, the Rangers will call up Ronald Guzman from Triple-A Round Rock.

Guzman, 23, is a first baseman out of the Dominican Republic. He signed with the club as an international free agent in 2011. According to MLB Pipeline, he is the club's seventh-best prospect.

He's hitting .412 with two doubles and 1 RBI in 5 games with the Express this season. In 125 games in 2017, Guzman hit .298 with 12 home runs and 62 RBI.

Guzman is expected to take the place of Elvis Andrus on the active roster after the club announced Thursday that he'll miss six to eight weeks with a broken elbow.

Fraley further reports that the Rangers will use Joey Gallo in the outfield and Drew Robinson in the infield while Rougned Odor and Andrus are out.
