Reports: Earl Thomas Will Not Sign With Browns

March 13, 2019 - 10:38 am

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Earl Thomas sweepstakes are entering day three Wednesday without any indication of where the All-Pro will play next.

Things appeared to be heating up last night for the safety, as Jason La Canfora reported that the Cleveland Browns were "feeling good about their chances" of landing Thomas, following their acquisition of star wideout Odell Beckham Jr.

Several reports this morning, however, have since squashed the Browns and Thomas connection.

NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo reported this morning that Thomas will not be signing with the Browns, and ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported that Cleveland isn't in on the former Seahawk.

Earlier this morning, Garafolo reported that as of last night, neither side had spoken about a deal, contradicting La Canfora and others' reports.

So what does it mean for the Cowboys? Well, on the NFL Network this morning, Ian Rapoport reported that the Cowboys are in a good spot right now because no team has come in an offered more than what they would offer Thomas. The former Longhorn is reportedly looking for a deal that will pay him an annual salary of $14 million, but 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher says that won't be happening in Dallas, as they would like to sign him for around $10 million annually.

Jane Slater of the NFL Network came on the GBAG Nation Tuesday to discuss the latest with Thomas, and she reported that all things were very quiet on the safety. It has since gotten a little louder but it appears nothing's changed for now.
