Report: Dallas Cowboys Staff Member Critical Of Dez Bryant

April 05, 2018 - 4:13 pm

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Rumors have been swirling all off-season about what the Dallas Cowboys could or should do with wide receiver Dez Bryant. Stephan Jones told Ben & Skin Tuesday that the team has still not spoken to the wide receiver about his status. But according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer someone inside the Cowboys organization is talking, and they don't have nice things to say about the Cowboys number one wideout.

“Based on last year,” one Cowboys' staffer told Breer, “he does very few things really well.”

"He can’t run by anyone anymore. He lacks explosion, evident in the loss of inches off his vertical," Breer wrote in his report. "He’s still inconsistent as a route-runner. He’s hard to count on for Dak Prescott. And as some there see it, he’s not doing enough to counteract all of that."

According to Sportrac, the Cowboys currently have $34.3 million in cap dollars tied up in the receiver position, $16.5 million of that being Bryant's contract. $12.5 million of which is the receiver's base pay.

Bryant signed a 5-year $70 million deal back in 2015, with $45 million being guaranteed. He has not produced a 1,000-yard season or double-digit touchdowns since 2014. Last year he recorded 838 yards on 69 receptions with 6 touchdowns.
