SURPRISE (105.3 The Fan) - As the Rangers continue to prepare for the upcoming season in Surprise, they enter the campaign much like they did in 2018 when they weren't given a chance to compete in the AL West.

Expectations for the club are low once again as the Houston Astros, Oakland A's and possibly even the Los Angeles Angels will compete for the division title. The Rangers should fall in line after those three teams and the now-rebuilding Seattle Mariners are expected to bring up the rear.

The club continued to stay the course over the last year and acquired prospects through trades with the goal of rebuilding the farm system to help get them back into contention.

With that being said, fans are looking for something to get excited about this season, so we asked Jared Sandler who are some of the club's current prospects that could make their major league debut this year?

Jared mentions Taylor Hearn, a hard-throwing left-hander the team acquired in a trade that sent Keone Kela to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The club assigned Hearn to Double-A Frisco where he went 1-2 with a 5.04 ERA in five starts. The 24-year-old Hearn hails from Royse City, Texas, and grew up being a Rangers fan.

Jared says Jonathan Hernandez (could begin in Double-A or Triple-A), Brock Burke (should begin in Double-A), and Joe Palumbo (could begin in Double-A or Triple-A) are some of the other starters that could get a chance with the big league club in 2019.

Jared also mentions a reliever and some of the position player prospects that could get called up, and he talks about some of the low-level prospects that should be coming up in the next few years.
