DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -  Randy Gregory is expected to meet with NFL officials, which may include commissioner Roger Goodell, this week.

Gregory tweeted Monday that he was possibly in New York, leading many to believe a meeting with the league was imminent.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed on March 29 that the defensive end was preparing to apply for reinstatement.

"I am not confident but I do see where his heart is," Jones said, via Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "He is one the smartest people that have played this game. This is a tremendous step. He has had that same IQ since he has had these issues. That's an issue. This is definitely a medical issue. There is no doubt in my mind about the medical. That is another campaign."

Back on October 24, a source close to the suspended Gregory told 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher he’s “successfully working at turning his life around,” but that work does not come with any guarantees of an NFL future.

In his time away from football, Gregory has been learning coping skills as a citizen, Fish says. He’s doing that, Fish was told, with a non-football job that occupies his time and gives him structure in addition to his workouts.

Once Gregory submits the paperwork the NFL has 60 days to approve reinstatement. Within 45 days of receiving the application, the player is interviewed by an NFL chosen medial advisor and the NFL will review Gregory's 2,000-page reinstatement request. Roger Goodell will then have 15 days to make his decision on Gregory's reinstatement. If all goes according to plan Gregory should be able to return to the team by mid-July just before training camp.
