FRISCO (105.3 THE FAN) - "We have a saying: 'It's a privilege, not a right, to play for the Dallas Cowboys ... Randy does not take the blessing of playing for granted He deserves a second chance to take advantage of his abilities, to positively contribute to this team and to the NFL, on and off the field.''

That is part of the letter Cowboys captain Sean Lee sent to the NFL in support of Randy Gregory's successful bid to end his two-year ban from the league due to substance abuse.

Lee's letter was part of what sources tell us was a 2,000-page presentation to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's office, and other Cowboys leaders such as Tyrone Crawford and Jeff Heath also wrote letters.

In collaboration with colleague Bobby Belt, below, the Lee letter, the Crawford letter and the Heath letter.

From Sean Lee:

From Jeff Heath:

From Tyrone Crawford:

Gregory, who was given permission by the NFL to rejoin the team and who will be in Oxnard for the start of training camp, was characterized in Heath's letter as "a good kid with a good heart who means well.''

Randy Gregory is also a fortunate human being to have this level of support.
