Yankees Re-Sign Veteran OF Brett Gardner

Yankees Outfielder Has Option For Second Year

Brett Gardner has no intentions of leaving New York.

The longtime Yankees outfielder reportedly agreed to a one-year deal to remain with the club. Gardner's deal is expected to be worth roughly $12.5 million with an option for the 2021 season - worth $10 million, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch

As Yankees general manager Brian Cashman reeled in Gerrit Cole on his record nine-year, $324 million contract, Cashman's focus shifted towards his unrestricted free agents. WFAN's Jon Heyman reported Wednesday that the Yankees were "hopeful" to soon get a deal done with Gardner.

Last season, the 36-year-old recorded a career high in RBIs (74) and home runs (28) while he slashed .251 at the plate. He cashed in on his twelfth season in pinstripes.

Gardner's current deal will be an increase from the $7.5 million he earned last season.
