They say living well is the best revenge. I don’t know who Max Scherzer needs revenge against, but he’s certainly living well. How well? According to Randy White of Realtor.com, the three-time Cy Young Award winner shelled out $9.75 million for his new mansion in Jupiter, Florida, which sits roughly 20 miles north of the Nationals’ spring training home in West Palm Beach.

Scherzer, who is entering Year 6 of a seven-year, $210-million contract, spared no expense, spending nearly eight figures on his beach paradise. Scherzer’s new 7,778-square-foot estate contains five bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms and 120 feet of “water frontage” along with a private boating dock, should the seven-time All-Star ever get the itch to explore the high seas (the intracoastal waterway is mere “minutes” away by boat). Other amenities on the premises include a state-of-the-art chef’s kitchen (complete with dual-wall ovens and a restaurant-quality La Cornue gas range), an outdoor pool and patio, a study/office and all the indoor dining space Scherzer and his family could ever need. The 12-year vet paid plenty for his new Admirals Cove digs, though he did manage to shave a little off the original $10.5-million asking price.

The star right-hander has been renting in West Palm Beach for years but now has a permanent Florida residence to add to his real estate portfolio. Scherzer, who broke into the bigs as an Arizona Diamondback in 2008, also maintains a three-acre property overlooking the Potomac River in McLean, Virginia, a wealthy D.C. suburb. The 35-year-old has made his home there since 2015, purchasing the 7,160-square-foot masterpiece for $5.2 million.

Not only does Scherzer have a pair of breathtaking, waterfront palaces to call his own, but he’s also coming off an elusive World Series title—the first in the franchise’s 50-year history—in 2019. That folks, is called living your best life. It’s good to be Mad Max.
