LeBron James Blatantly Travels and Gets Away With It: 'I Had a Malfunction'

LeBron James wishes he could walk this one back.

During Wednesday’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz, James made what he called “probably one of the worst things I’ve ever done in my career” when he blatantly traveled, and got away with it.

James was bringing the ball up across half court when he picked up his dribble, held the ball with his palm up, took three steps and began dribbling again.

The referees did not make any call despite the obvious travel violation that was emphatically pointed out by the Jazz players and fans in the arena.

After the game, James admitted his mistake and sounded embarrassed about it.

“It was the worst thing, probably one of the worst things I’ve ever done in my career,” he said. “I didn’t realize I did it until halftime. One of my coaches showed me.

“I feel bad for the refs on that one because they’ll probably get a write-up on that or something. That was pretty bad.”

James said he saw a collision between Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Donovan Mitchell underneath the basket, which may have caused the brain fart.

“I think I was ready to pass the ball and my brain just kind of just … I had a malfunction,” he said. “I really had a malfunction.”
