Fantasy Football: Week 7 Sneaky Quarterbacks to Start

One of the biggest takeaways at almost halfway through the fantasy football regular seasons is that the best quarterbacks this season are not just performing well but posting monster fantasy numbers. Names like DeShaun Watson and Russell Wilson fall into this category.

Kirk Cousins (QB6) - 27.3 points
Sam Darnold (QB9) - 19.6 points
Kyle Allen (QB13) - 17.4 points

Through six weeks, there have been 23 cases of a quarterback rostered in less than 50 percent of leagues posting top-12 quarterback numbers for that week. So, 32 percent of top-12 QB performances this season have been by an after-thought at the position.

Most of those were by players who exploited a poor passing defense or were playing from behind, leading to a spike in passing attempts.

Through six weeks, my streaming quarterback nominees are averaging about 16 points per week. My top option each week is averaging 22.8 fantasy points per game, which would be QB6 on the season.

Each week, I will recommend three streaming QB options you can pick up and start in both your normal, redraft fantasy leagues as well as daily fantasy lineups, among those QBs rostered in less than 45 percent of leagues and track the results throughout the season.

Josh Allen (BUF) - vs. Miami, 44% rostered
Only the Rams are projected to score more points this week than Josh Allen’s Bills, with a projection from oddsmakers of 28 points in Week 7. Take out the game against New England (which nobody in their right mind was putting Allen into their fantasy lineups for), and he’s averaging 18.5 fantasy points per game. The Dolphins are also giving up 24.8 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, most in the league. Allen also has the added benefit of coming off his bye week.

Daniel Jones (NYG) - vs. Arizona, 41% rostered
Jones has seen his passing yardage decrease every game since his fantastic debut against Tampa Bay, but this is the week where he comes roaring back. Arizona has allowed the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season at 24.5 per game. Believe it or not, oddsmakers are projecting the Giants to score as many points as the Chiefs this week in a game with an over/under of 49. Many see this as an uptempo game at MetLife Stadium.

Jimmy Garoppolo (SF) - at Washington, 36% rostered
Jimmy GQ has been a glorified game manager en route to a 5-0 start for the 49ers but gets to face a terrible defense this week in Washington. The Redskins are allowing almost 20 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. This is a desperation pick if all other options are taken though, as Garoppolo has only had one solid fantasy performance this week against the Bengals. The 49ers are also have an implied team total of 25.75 points in this game, a projection that puts the 49ers among the 10 highest scoring teams in Week 7. An elite San Francisco defense against a miserable Washington offense should only lead to more possessions for Jimmy G.
