DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Police have issued a citation for a Carolina Panthers football player, accused of assaulting a woman in Deep Ellum.

According to Dallas Police, the incident happened earlier this month at a club on Pacific Avenue. An unidentified woman says Panthers Defensive Tackle Vernon Butler shoved her and threw a drink in her face.

The Carolina Panthers organization says they just found out about the allegations this week and so far no charges have been filed.

According to WCCB in Charlotte, police issued Butler a Class C assault citation - which is the lowest-level assault charge in Texas, punishable by a maxium fine of $500.
