DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Nearly two days after Earl Thomas posted on Instagram a desire to be extended by the Seahawks or traded away, a report from The Athletic says the rumors connecting the safety to the Cowboys are being overblown.

Always been the underdog ain’t nothing new . Extend .....if you don’t want me let’s make a trade happen I understand it’s a bizz -------- 29 LAVIBES

According to a Cowboys source close to Calvin Watkins, the connection between Dallas and Thomas is "a lot of media hype," and "Seattle (is) not giving him away and we're not overpaying."

Sure, the media is writing about the trade rumors, but can anyone blame us? The player is telling the whole world he wants to be extended, and it's not a secret where he'd like to end up.

The safety already told Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett "if they kick me to the curb, come get me" and responded positively to an Instagram comment telling him to come to the Cowboys.

Based on what happened in April, we already know the Cowboys won't overpay and we know Seattle isn't going to give him away.

According to a source close to 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher, Dallas had "earmarked" their second-round pick in the draft for a potential trade with the Seattle Seahawks for Thomas but it never came to be.

Thomas was the one player under contract that could have landed Seattle a bounty of draft picks, but Carroll and general manager John Schneider held on to the star safety despite the contract uncertainty.

Fast forward to present day and there's still no resolution.

With Thomas expected to be absent from training camp when the Seahawks report next week, will one of these two give in? Nobody really knows. But, one thing we do know, is that this isn't 'media hype,' it's player hype.
