XFL Dallas Renegades

ARLINGTON (KRLD) - In Arlington, the adrenaline is pumping, the heartbeats are racing. The first weekend of the XFL is here.

The Dallas Renegades, led by former Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops, are one of the eight teams in the upstart league that hopes to capitalize on America's love of football.

"We are creating an authentic game of football that will be fast, exciting, and there will be less stall and more ball," says Renegades president Grady Raskin.

The XFL includes new rules that will keep the game rolling, like a shortened play clock, only two timeouts per team each half, and accelerated replay rulings.

Other rules will make the game feel more wide open, like the ability to go for one, two, or three points after a touchdown.

The Renegades roster features several native North Texans, including players from Duncanville, Haltom City, Denton, and more.

Maybe the most recognizable man on the sideline will be Stoops, who led the Sooners for 18 seasons before stepping away in 2016.

"Bob Stoops is such an amazing addition for us," Raskin says.  "Lord knows where he could have gone if he wanted to go to any college or NFL team over the last three years.  But he chose us."

The Renegades start their 10-game regular season on Sunday, playing their first of five home games.  Dallas hosts the St. Louis BattleHawks at 4 P.M. at Globe Life Park.
