DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett says first-round pick Leighton Vander Esch will not practice on the first day of Cowboys minicamp Tuesday.

Garrett told media members that Vander Esch suffered an ankle injury and that he would spend the day rehabbing rather than be on the field.

It's not known when Vander Esch suffered the injury but it's "not considered major," 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher reports.

Minicamp notes:

Tyron Smith: Despite resting during parts of OTAs with a sore shoulder, the All-Pro left tackle is practicing today.

David Irving: The defensive lineman is at The Star in Frisco today after missing OTAs for personal reasons. Garrett told the media Tuesday that Irving will participate on the side.

Zack Martin: Despite numerous reports, the right guard's deal still isn't done. 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher reported that a deal could get done as early as today. Martin is also at The Star and will participate in individual drills.
