DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Former Cowboys quarterback and current NFL on CBS analyst Tony Romo gave the Dallas defense some high praise in a video posted by USA Today.

When asked to predict the Cowboys record for the upcoming season, Romo said this year's defense could be the best Cowboys defensive unit since the 1990's.

Notable players from the Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl teams in the 90's included Charles Haley, Darren Woodson and Deion Sanders

The 2018 Dallas defense is loaded with young talent, including pass rusher Demarcus Lawrence, linebacker Jaylon Smith, secondary players Jourdan Lewis, Chidobe Awuzie and Bryon Jones, and has veterans in Sean Lee and Tyrone Crawford.

The biggest question mark heading into the season for the defense comes at safety. Xavier Woods is likely to miss the season opener at Carolina, and is only in his second pro season, while Jeff Heath has had an up and down career to this point. Kavon Frazier is a 2016 sixth-round selection and has had some good moments when he's been on the field.

The Cowboys have been linked to Seattle safety Earl Thomas, however, a trade has yet to materialize.

So how does Romo see the Cowboys faring this season? "I'll go with 10-6," Romo said without taking a deep dive into the Cowboys schedule.

Romo also gave predictions for the league's MVP, best rookie and Super Bowl champion.
