Texas High School Football Rankings, Playoff Info

ALLEN (KRLD) - After clinching a playoff berth for the 20th consecutive year, the Allen Eagles are steamrolling into the postseason as the top-ranked Class 6A high school team in Texas.

In the latest Associated Press high school poll released Monday, Allen (8-0) continued its season-long run at No. 1, taking 21 of 24 first-place votes.  As the largest school in the state, Allen will compete in the Class 6A Division 1 playoffs.

Galena Park North Shore (8-0) - also headed to the Division 1 playoff bracket - remained at No. 2.  Converse Judson (7-0, Division 1) stayed at No. 3.  Longview (8-0) is at No. 4 for another week.  It will be in the 6A Division 2 playoff bracket.  Duncanville (8-0) stayed at No. 5.  Duncanville will go Division 1 in the playoffs, meaning four of the top five teams in the state are headed for that bracket.  Southlake Carroll (8-0, also headed for Division 1) is at No. 6.  Haltom is ranked 13th in this week's 6A poll, while Cedar Hill is ranked 17th.

In Class 5A, Aledo, Highland Park and Denton Ryan (all 8-0) held in the top three positions for another week.  Frisco Reedy (9-0) moved up a spot to No. 9.  Mesquite Poteet is ranked 13th in 5A, The Colony is at No. 17 and unbeaten Birdville is 18th.

In 4A, Argyle (8-0) again received five first-place votes to remain a solid No. 2 behind Carthage (8-0).  Midlothian Heritage (7-1) is at No. 6 for another week.  Glen Rose (8-1) moved into the rankings at No. 10.  Springtown is ranked at No. 14 in Class 4A, while Stephenville is 18th and Sunnyvale is at No. 19.

In 3A, Gunter (8-0) sits at No. 2 behind top-ranked Newton (7-0).  Brock (7-1) is at No. 4 for another week.  

In 2A, Muenster (7-1) is again ranked No. 8.
