Stephen Jones On Gregory Seeking Reinstatement: "That Would Be Amazing" To Get Him Back

April 20, 2018 - 3:58 pm

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys COO Stephen Jones joined the Ben and Skin Show on Friday to discuss the latest with the team ahead of next week's NFL Draft.

Jones addressed 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher and 247 Sports' Bobby Belt's report that Gregory could petition for his reinstatement as early as May 1.

"As you well know, we're just hoping and wishing Randy the best as he's making his journey to try and get back in the NFL. That would just be amazing if he were able to get this done," Jones said. "Certainly, he's still got work to do. When he applies for reinstatement, which it's our understanding that he's going to at some point here in the near future, it doesn't necessarily mean (he'll get reinstated). He has done really well as of late or they wouldn't be going for reinstatement."

According to 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher, in his time away from football, Gregory has been learning coping skills as a citizen. He’s doing that, Fish was told, with a non-football job that occupies his time and gives him structure in addition to his workouts.

"Our thoughts are with Randy. There's a lot of things that are a lot more important than football. It sounds like he's getting his hands around that to the point where he can start to think about football again. Boy, what a wonderful situation that would be to get him back in a good place," Jones added Friday.

Jones also touched on a number of other topics, including the decision to place James Hanna on the reserve/retired list.
