Stephen Jones Doesn't See Cowboys Bringing In Veteran Backup QB

August 20, 2018 - 3:36 pm

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys COO Stephen Jones joined the GBAG Nation on 105.3 The Fan for his first weekly appearance of the season on Monday.

Jones was asked about the performance of the backup quarterbacks to this point in the preseason and if the Cowboys were considering bringing in a veteran to backup Dak Prescott.

"Don't think so. I think all this is a function of being a young football team. We're young even with the first group and then you throw in a few injuries and guys who aren't playing and a guy like Cooper is going with the three's ... He has a lot of three's mixed in with his two's ... And sometimes it's hard to get in a rhythm," Jones said. "I actually thought he played really well in the San Francisco game and for the most part, he's been able to move the ball when given opportunities. So, is he's young, absolutely. Do we feel really good about him, absolutely we do, and we really like what Mike White is doing ... We feel really good about our young quarterbacks."

105.3 The Fan's Ari Temkin explained in an article written earlier this morning that it was time for Dallas to explore their options at backup quarterback.
