DALLAS (10.3 The Fan) - Cowboys COO Stephen Jones says they never asked Sean Lee to take a pay cut. In fact, Stephen Jones says the veteran linebacker approached them about restructuring his contract for the good of the team.

“Sean came to us. He wanted to play. We didn’t even ask. He just said, ‘Look, I want to adjust. I’ve missed a lot. I know you’ve got these two young guys that are going to need to be on the field. I think I can help.'"

Back in March, it was reported that Lee and the Cowboys agreed to cut his contract in half from $7 million to $3.5 million. Lee is eligible to earn back the other $3.5 million in incentives.

Lee is in his 10th season with the Cowboys and provided a major impact to the defense in last week's win over the New York Giants with Leighton Vander Esch sidelined with a neck injury.

Lee sat out practice Friday (maintenance) but is expected to play Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings.
