DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys tight end Rico Gathers has reportedly been suspended for one game for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, the league announced today.

The suspension stems from an incident back in September when Gathers was arrested for marijuana possession.

Gathers is on the roster bubble in Dallas as he's competing with Blake Jarwin, Dalton Schultz, Jason Witten, and Codey McElroy.

Gathers, the former Baylor basketball player, has unique athleticism but as he hadn't played football since the eighth grade before the Cowboys took him in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL draft. Nevertheless, his eye-popping plays have made him a lightning rod for discussion.

The 25-year-old recorded three catches for 45 yards in six games of action.
