ARLINGTON (105.3 The Fan) - The Texas Rangers have agreed to bring back reliever Jesse Chavez on a two-year, $8 million deal, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.

Chavez had a nice run in the Rangers bullpen last season before Texas flipped him to the Chicago Cubs ahead of the trade deadline. Chavez compiled a 3.51 ERA in 56 innings of work with Texas and had a magnificent 1.15 ERA in 39 innings pitched with Chicago. Between the two teams, Chavez went 5-2 with a 2.55 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP in 62 games and 95 1/3 innings.

Chavez, a former starter, was mostly used as the Rangers' long-man until they decided to put him in late-inning situations prior to trading him. According to's TR Sullivan, Chavez has expressed an interest in starting once again.
