Report: Gregory To Meet With NFL Doctor To Determine If He'll Be Suspended Again

August 30, 2018 - 9:49 am

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Randy Gregory could be facing another suspension, according to our media partner NBC 5 Sports.

Two sources close to NBC 5 Sports say that Gregory will meet with an NFL doctor on Thursday morning to determine whether he starts the season with the Cowboys on Sept. 9, or he gets suspended again. However, according to 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher, the meeting between Gregory and the doctor is in accordance with the league's special program for the defensive end. According to the conditions given to Gregory by the league when he was reinstated, the league can call him in for a meeting at any time.

Both Jerry and Stephen Jones have told 105.3 The Fan this week that the Cowboys weren't aware of any coming trouble for Gregory, however, they wouldn't hear anything until the NFL notified them.

"We just don't know. With what Randy's been through, it's a challenge for him every day. As for where he is with the league, we won't hear till it's time. We don't hear until it's unfortunately not good news. We don't know of anything right now," Stephen Jones said on the GBAG Nation.

“It’s not confusing, as far as our knowledge is concerned. We don't get privy to his health records and we don't get privy to his status relative to the NFL rules," Jerry Jones said on Shan and RJ. "We get results, we don't get privy to how it's evolving," Jones said. "He’s doing outstanding in camp. We hope, to say the least, that everything is fine. But just by the very nature of it, if you're in the program with the NFL, then you're vulnerable because you're subject to random drug testing at any time."

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said at his press conference on Tuesday that he "absolutely" expects Gregory to be on the field in week 1.

The Cowboys last preseason game is tonight against the Houston Texans. You can hear the game starting at 6 p.m. on 105.3 The Fan
