May 08, 2018 - 11:51 am

UPDATE: (2:20): Manziel confirmed on social media that he was admitted to the hospital. "Thank you everyone for your concern and kind messages. Unfortunately I had a reaction to an increased dosage in Lithium which I take for my Bipolar disorder. It was a scary moment and I'm especially grateful for the staff at the hospital and all that they've done in the last 24 hours."

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - According to a report from TMZ, Johnny Manziel was hospitalized Monday night in Humble, Texas.

TMZ's sources say that Manziel was in the area to attend the JMBYLA concert with friends after playing in a golf tournament hosted by his former teammate at Texas A&M Mike Evans.

"It seems like he had a reaction to an adjustment in his prescription. He’s fine and headed home," Manziel's rep told TMZ.

Manziel previously told Good Morning America that he suffers from bipolar disorder. It's not known if a medication to treat that diagnosis is connected to his hospitalization.

The former Heisman trophy winner is attempting to get back on an NFL roster and has an offer in hand from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League.
