DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - After playing throughout most of the season without multiple key pieces in their secondary, the Philadelphia Eagles defense got a big boost when cornerback Jalen Mills was activated off of the PUP list on Saturday.

According to the report from NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the plan from the Eagles is for Mills to play in the team's huge division showdown against the Cowboys on Sunday Night.

The Eagles secondary has been the team's biggest weakness by far in the first six weeks of the season, with the team ranking 29th out of 32 teams in the NFL defensively in passing defense, giving up an average of 280.2 yards per game. The Eagles have also given up 13 touchdowns per game through the air, which ranks them 28th in the league in that category. The Eagles do rank fourth in the NFL in interceptions with seven, but that has not helped them in recent weeks, as they have been torched through the air for most of the season.

Mills returns to the field to start for the first time in the regular season since October 28th of 2018, when he injured his foot against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

Mills had been on the Physically Unable to Perform list since the beginning of training camp this summer, which kept him from returning to practice until at least week six of the season. With their secondary in dire straits, Mills recovery and return to the lineup could not have come at a better time for the 3-3 Eagles.

The Cowboys and Eagles will face off Sunday night in primetime at 7:20 pm on NBC. You can also listen live on 105.3 the Fan.
