Report: Delino DeShields Headed For Rehab Assignment

April 18, 2018 - 12:49 pm

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Rangers outfielder Delino DeShields could return sooner than the club expected.

According to multiple reports, the plan is for DeShields to play in games with Double-A Frisco on Thursday and Friday, setting up a potential return for the Rangers weekend series with the Seattle Mariners.

"I told y'all I'd be back in three weeks," DeShields said after a batting practice session Wednesday morning, via Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News. "I can be stubborn. I feel great. It's time to get back on the field."

DeShields has been sidelined since March 31 because of a broken hamate bone in his left wrist. He was slated to miss four to six weeks with the injury. If he does indeed return this weekend, it will only have been three weeks as DeShields predicted.
