SURPRISE (105.3 The Fan) - Shan and RJ are out in Surprise for Rangers Spring Training this week and on Wednesday morning they were joined by the general manager of the Texas Rangers, Jon Daniels.

Here's one of the highlights:

What do you say to the Rangers fan who is disappointed you missed out on adding a bit bat to the middle of the order?

"I get it. We wanted to add a big bat. I think overall we just wanted to get better. At the beginning of the offseason, I thought by this point we would have brought in a middle of the order presence to match up with Joey (Gallo). It ended up that we took a different path and we really focused on the pitching side.

"I do think we made some incremental improvements in a few spots. I think between (Robinson) Chirinos and Frazier, and I'm really intrigued by Greg Bird so far, I think our offense is going to be better. But, we wanted to add that big bat and we didn't.

"I will say this, though, it's not over. There's trade activity in the spring, there's trade activity in July. Next year's free-agent class is pretty big again. In our minds, this offseason was just kind of cracking open the start of when we're going to be back engaged with all the big names."

The guys also talked about what went wrong with the Anthony Rendon and Nicholas Castellanos negotiations, and more. Listen to the audio below.
