Mavs Rookie Luka Doncic Misses Out On Being All-Star Starter

January 24, 2019 - 6:10 pm

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Mavericks' rookie Luka Doncic will have to wait another week to see if he'll be elected to his first NBA All-Star Game roster.

The NBA revealed the starters Thursday evening.

Doncic missed out on being a starter despite having the second-most votes in the Western Conference.

Fan voting accounted for 50 percent of the vote to determine the 10 starters for the game, scheduled for Feb. 17 in Charlotte.

The other half of the voting came from current players at 25 percent and a panel of media members make up the other 25 percent.

The Western Conference starters included Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George, Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, and Houston Rockets guard James Harden.

Representing the Eastern Conference will be Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, Toronto Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard, Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid, Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving, and Charlotte Hornets guard Kemba Walker.

The 14 reserves (seven from each conference), selected by NBA head coaches, will be announced on TNT next Thursday.

As the two leading vote-getters, James and Antetokounmpo are tasked with drafting their respective teams. TNT will telecast the draft on Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. CST.
