DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Mavericks owner Mark Cuban joined the Ben and Skin show Thursday following the end of Dirk Nowitzki's storied career with the franchise.

Here are some of the highlights:

On if he (Cuban) prepared his speech to Dirk after his final home game at the American Airlines Center:

"No, I went through my mind while Dirk was talking to Larry Bird and all those guys, I thought I knew what I was going to say but I got out there and was like, 'no I'm not going to get into all that.'

"I was going to talk about different personal situations, my memories. And I'm like, 'there's no way I can keep it together during that.'

"I hadn't planned on the promises. It was just like okay. ... It's just easier if I say something nice and talk just to Dirk and I can hang in there. So it just came out (the promises)."

On if they want to add a big name free agent or players that fit well with Luka and Porzingis:

"That's something we're discussing right now. We don't know yet. We go back and forth on it. It really depends on who the big fish is. There are certain names that are no brainers and there are certain names that, 'wow, that would be nice, but how do we fill out the rest of our roster?' Then a particular style of play, who can we get?

"And for the rest of the roster, do we go younger and try to find the next Dodo (Dorian Finney-Smith) and the next Maxi (Kleber). ... Or, do we go older and find players that are more experienced, which is what we used to do. (We brought in ) the Brendan Wright's, the Al-Farouq Aminu's that we brought in for one-year, two-year deals and try to get them back like we did, and they turned out to have great careers afterward. So, we're trying to make decisions on how to fill out the roster but we haven't decided yet."

Cuban also talked about an extension for Dwight Powell, Dirk possibly joining the ownership team, the final home game celebration, and more. Listen to the audio below.
