FRISCO (105.3 The Fan) - Jon Kitna is in his first season as the Cowboys' quarterbacks coach, a very important job as he's one of the key people tasked with helping develop Dak Prescott.

In his short time as the QB coach, Prescott has made a strong impression on Kitna.

"He's a rare individual,'' said Kitna, a former backup of Tony Romo. "From the physical standpoint, the mental standpoint, the experience standpoint, the leadership, I mean, on down the line. Playing in Dallas, with all that comes with being the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, he embraces all that. He doesn’t shy away from it. I don’t think you want to even try to put limits on what that would be, on what his best is. It’s going to be fun over time to watch it happen and to be a part of it on a small scale.”

In other words, what Dak sees in his new coach, his new coach sees in him.

"He wants to be the best,'' Kitna said after a minicamp workout here inside Ford Center at The Star, comparing his obvious want-to to that of Dallas icon Jason Witten. "A lot of people say that. I just feel like you can watch somebody. You don’t really care about what they say. Just watching people. ... He doesn’t need to be poked and prodded but he wants to be poked and prodded and pushed. So it’s fun.”

Mike Fisher brought up Kitna's thoughts today on the GBAG Nation on 105.3 The Fan. Listen to the audio below:
