DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Dallas Cowboys safety Xavier Woods (ankle) is out this week, but the team does not think it’s a long-term injury, according to COO Stephen Jones.

Speaking to The Fan's GBag Nation, Jones said he’d be “very surprised” if Woods is not back in time for the Saints game on September 29th.

Woods was hurt on the final series in the Cowboys win over the Redskins.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Woods could miss 4-6 weeks due to a high-ankle sprain

At that time, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told The Fan that Woods' injury could be 'serious' but that "only the guy up stairs really knows how much time he’ll miss."

"He will be evaluated as the week goes along" said Jones. "He's young, he might be able to move on it."
