Jerry Jones On Starters That Will Play vs. Giants, Who He Prefers To Play In The Playoffs

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys are planning on playing most of their starters in Sunday's season finale at New York despite being locked into the No. 4 seed in the NFC playoffs. Following Sunday's win over Tampa Bay, Owner Jerry Jones said he envisioned the team finishing strong and to try and get a win Sunday in New York.

Jones echoed those sentiments this morning when he joined Jared Sandler and Mike Fisher on 105.3 The Fan.

"Our experience has been that we've played smart, if you will, in a game that has no standing-implications and I don't think we've played well," Jones said. "Now, we've avoided the injury in the past by playing that way. But I don't know that we've entered the game the last couple playoff opportunities in our best shape."

Jones said the players that won't play "are going to be pretty obvious," meaning the ones that are injured. Jones said right guard Zack Martin, who's been dealing with a sprained MCL, will not be playing. When pressed about Demarcus Lawrence (shoulder) or any other player's chances of playing Sunday, Jones wouldn't get into it.

Dallas will most likely see the Seattle Seahawks in the first round, but does Jerry Jones have a preference on who they play?

"Well, obviously we're going to have to play some teams that we have played," he said. "I really do, I think that's a good thing.

"We certainly got a chance to play Seattle and New Orleans, and it would appear we could go that route. That's not a bad thing at all."
