DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - During his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan Friday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made his first public comments about Dez Bryant signing with the New Orleans Saints.

"I haven't had a chance to talk to him but I do congratulate him. I'm really proud of him," Jones said of Bryant on the G-BAG Nation."I want the very best for Dez and the very best for Dez is to be on that football field doing what he loves to do the most. This gives him a great opportunity. They're having an outstanding year and so I think it'll be a great spot for him."

Many fans took to social media to criticize and to defend the team for their decision to release Bryant in April. The critical voices grew louder as the season progressed after the team's offense continued to struggle without a difference-making wide receiver on the field to throw the ball to. Since the trade for talented wideout Amari Cooper two weeks ago, the noise has quieted some (not including the offensive play calling), but a lot of fans are still disappointed in the team for going without a receiver for the first seven games of the season.

When asked if he would be disappointed to hear fans cheer for Bryant instead of the Cowboys when the Saints come to town Nov. 29, Jones says he anticipates Bryant getting applauded.

"I expect Dez Bryant to have a lot of fans cheering for him. I would really hope so," Jones said. "He's given our fans and the Cowboys some great days, great plays, great moments. They cheered for Emmitt Smith big time when he came back as a Cardinal. We love Dez and we think our fans do too."
