Jerry Jones Praises Former Texas Tech HC Kliff Kingsbury

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys owner Jerry Jones praised Kliff Kingsbury in his weekly interview on 105.3 The Fan, just over a week after he was fired as the head coach at Texas Tech.

On Tuesday morning, Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports became the latest to report that Kingsbury and USC have agreed to a deal. Gil Brandt and several others reported last week that the two had come to an agreement despite neither USC or the coach's representation confirming that a deal was done.

Because no deal had been made official as of this morning, Jones was asked if the team had any interest in bringing in Kingsbury for the rest of the season in an advisory role?

"I don't know of anyone that's more qualified in doing what he does and has a better track record of doing what Kliff does regarding quarterbacks and that position or offenses and that position ... and I for one thought he was successful at Texas Tech," Jones said.

"Coaching has that overhang that is a serious one and that is right ... and that is you're judged on your record. I think he's outstanding and I wouldn't, if we were interested or not, comment on just how interested or not we are.

"My grandson (John Stephen Jones) thinks he (Kingsbury) just hung the moon (during his recruitment last year). He recruited him and he gave Texas Tech a serious consideration of going to school there and a lot of it had to do with Kliff."

Since his dismissal on Nov. 26, Kingsbury became a hot commodity as he was linked to several different college programs and NFL teams. As of now, it appears as if the Trojans have won the sweepstakes, but as Brandt cautioned in his tweet ... the deal isn't done until the ink is dry.
