Jerry Jones: Ezekiel Elliott As Rested & Mended As He's Been All Year

January 04, 2019 - 12:47 pm

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Jerry Jones believes his star running back is ready to go after sitting out last weekend's meaningless but exciting 36-35 win over the New York Giants.

"It made a meaningful difference," Jones said of the impact the week off had on Ezekiel Elliott. "He's as rested and as mended as he's been all year. ... When you get that kind of break there's no question it gives you an opportunity to rejuvenate your energy. It was great to have him rest and be ready to go for tomorrow night."

Elliott certainly needed some rest after carrying the ball 304 times for 1,434 yards on the ground. When you include the career-high 77 catches he made, Elliott had a career-high 381 touches in 2018.

When asked how he felt earlier this week, Elliott proclaimed himself ready to go.

"Normally after a real game I'm not feeling ready to play until about Friday, but I'm ready to go right now," Elliott said after Tuesday's practice. "I live for these moments. I love it. I can't wait to go out there and compete Saturday night."

Elliott won the NFL rushing title and was named to the All-Pro second team on Friday.
