Jason Garrett: "Based On What I Know" Gregory Will Play Week 1

August 28, 2018 - 11:13 am

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett repeated what Stephen and Jerry Jones have already said regarding Randy Gregory's status. The Cowboys simply don't know anything about Jason La Canfora's report that the pass rusher is facing more trouble from the NFL.

Garrett did, however, say at his press conference that he expects Randy Gregory to be on the field for week 1 against the Carolina Panthers.

"Based on what I know, absolutely," he will be playing.

Just like he did after the game on Sunday and like his son did with 105.3 The Fan on Monday ... Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan's Shan and RJ on Tuesday that the team isn't confused by La Canfora's report because they don't get a heads up from the league when a player might be facing trouble.

“It’s not confusing, as far as our knowledge is concerned. We don't get privy to his health records and we don't get privy to his status relative to the NFL rules. We get results, we don't get privy to how it's evolving," Jones said. "He’s doing outstanding in camp. We hope, to say the least, that everything is fine. But just by the very nature of it, if you're in the program with the NFL, then you're vulnerable because you're subject to random drug testing at any time."
