New Orleans (105.3 The Fan) - New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is excited to get a new toy for his already explosive offense.

Brees praised wide receiver Dez Bryant after the Saints signed him to a one-year deal Wednesday.

"I've heard a lot of great things about him. ... Dez has been a really good player in this league for a long time," Brees said, via the team's website. "There is certainly a skill set that he has that's going to be beneficial. I look forward to working with him. I look forward to building a rapport with him. I look forward to getting him into this offense to be a compliment to all the guys that we already have. ... I think he'll be a great addition."

Brees was asked what he knew of Bryant and he said he had come across him at pro bowls and had seen him during his official workout with the team on Tuesday, saying everything had been "good." He was also asked if the team's front office had sought his opinion before making the deal.

"We talked about it in the offseason. It was more so ... a guy like that could become available is out there. There might come a time where we could need a guy like that," Brees said. "At the start of the season, we weren't at that position but all of a sudden a couple guys get knicked up and there becomes a place for him. He's definitely a guy we've looked at for a while."

Bryant joins a Saints offense that already includes Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram, Tre-Quan Smith and Brees.
