DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) – Once again, luck was not on the Dallas Mavericks side Tuesday night as the team learned that they will have the fifth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Coming into the lottery, Dallas was tied with the Atlanta Hawks for the third best odds at winning the No. 1 overall pick (13.8%) after they went 24-58 in 2017-18.

They ended up getting jumped in the lottery by Atlanta and the Sacramento Kings to slide to the fifth spot.

Dallas did have a 29 percent chance of getting the No. 5 pick, which was the greatest odds of all the picks they could have received (no lower than 6th).

However, getting jumped by two teams after having a 42.6 percent chance of getting a top-three pick, is clearly disappointing.

The Phoenix Suns, who had the best odds of winning (25%) the lottery, ended up with the No. 1 overall pick.

Lottery results:

1st: Phoenix

2nd: Sacramento

3rd Atlanta

4th: Memphis

5th: Dallas

6th: Orlando

7th: Chicago

8th: Cleveland

9th: New York

10th: Philadelphia

11th: Charlotte

12th: L.A. Clippers

13th: L.A. Clippers

14th: Denver
