Dirk To Make Season Debut Tonight In Phoenix

December 13, 2018 - 10:37 am

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dirk Nowitzki will make his long-awaited return to game-action tonight in Phoenix, according to 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher.

Nowitzki has missed the entire season up to this point (26 games) as he continued to recover from offseason surgery on his left ankle.

The Mavericks listed the future Hall-of-Famer as questionable for last night's win over Atlanta but opted to hold him out until tonight to give him an extra day of rest, and because it's the second night of a back-to-back. By holding Nowitzki out until tonight, Carlisle will be able to play him in a game where minutes won't be an issue to keep other players rested and fresh.

Nowitzki will officially become the first player in NBA history to play 21 seasons for one franchise when he steps onto the court tonight in the desert.
