Dez Bryant "Extremely Excited" To Play For Saints

November 08, 2018 - 3:52 pm

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dez Bryant is thrilled to get the opportunity to play with the New Orleans Saints.

The former Dallas Cowboy spoke to the media for the first time since signing with the NFC leaders on Wednesday.

"I'm extremely excited to play with that baby goat over there Michael Thomas, baby goat Alvin Kamara, that big goat Drew Brees, Mark Ingram, (Marshon) Lattimore. ... I'm just excited to play with these guys," Bryant said.

Bryant could make his debut with the Saints as early as this Sunday in Cincinnati. Head coach Sean Payton told the media Thursday that Bryant was a little heavy and probably needed to lose five pounds. Payton pointed out that it's very common for a player to need to lose a litle weight after they've been away from a team for so long.

It took half the season for Bryant to sign with a team. The 30-year-old passed up offers to join the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns, leading many to question if he'd ever play again. Bryant told media members, including Doug Mouton of WWL-TV, that he did have an opportunity to work out at other places but he wouldn't get into it.

"Who wouldn't want to play with Drew Brees," Bryant said.

The Cowboys all-time leader in touchdown receptions also took the time to defend himself against the criticism he's faced since being released by the Cowboys in April.

"I'm going to always be me. I'm not a bad guy. I've always been a good guy, you can ask my teammates," he said.
