DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Texas Rangers already made big moves ahead of Major League Baseball's trade deadline on July 31. However, the club has the opportunity to pull off more deals before the waiver trade deadline this week.

Ranger general manager Jon Daniels told The Ben and Skin Show on 105.3 The Fan that the club could add more pieces to the farm system before the MLB mandated September 1 deadline for traded players to be eligible for the postseason.

"It's possible. We've had a couple conversations with teams calling on players that have cleared (waivers)," Daniels said. "We haven't been motivated to (make a) move at this point since we haven't made any deals, but we're open to it.

"We've had some conversations but I'd say probably not based on we're not at an advanced stage on anything. But things could move pretty quickly if a team has a need."

Any player traded that clears waivers can be traded to any team. It's not known which Rangers players have cleared waivers.

Alternatively, any player claimed by a team can be traded to that team only. Teams placing the player on waivers can also let the player go to the claiming team or they can pull him back.
