SANTA CLARA (105.3 The Fan) - Dez Bryant tells me he's "got a plan'' for a return to the NFL. ... and that the plan includes a visit next week to the Cleveland Browns.

As the former Dallas Cowboys receiver watched TV on Thursday (waiting to watch the Cowboys-at-Niners preseason game) he communicated to me -- and then on Twitter -- his mindset.

"I've got a plan,'' Bryant said. "I've got this. Next week I want to go visit the Browns.''

Maybe Twitter itself played a role, as earlier in the day Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey was noted on Twitter by beat writer Mary Kay Cabot that he’s called Bryant but that the star receiver "won’t return any phone calls.”

Bryant's contention is that he has indeed been in communication with the Browns. At the same time, he noted on Twitter that he is "going to play'' this season, but that it'll happen "whenever I get ready ... I’m not on anybody (else's) time.''

But the Browns do have a need. And we are halfway through NFL training camps. And Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry's fireball speech shown on the first episode of the hit HBO series “Hard Knocks” seems to have attracted Bryant, who was released by Dallas on April 13.

"Ride With Me, @DezBryant!'' Landry wrote on social media, a concept that Dez approved of via the same medium.

Bryant also noted on Twitter: "I played with a broken foot before based of emotions, trying to satisfy the fans. That didn’t work out to well for me. So this time I'm choosing to be 100 percent for sure.. I’ll take all the time I need to show who I am.''

And it looks like next week in Cleveland is that time.
