Cole Beasley Looking Forward To Playing On The Outside

August 16, 2018 - 4:17 pm

OXNARD (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Cole Beasley joined Ben Rogers and Skin Wade from Cowboys training camp in Oxnard on Wednesday.

Beasley talked about the team's offense, receivers coach Sanjay Lal, Dez Bryant, and much more.

Beasley on why he's getting a chance to play more on the outside this season:

"It's all about opportunities. Last year was a struggle ... I was in the slot doing most of the same things I've been doing for six years. Eventually, they catch on (the other team's defense). It's going to help me so much more to be out there. It was easy to double-team me on the inside ... I was boxed in. I tried to win on all these outside routes and the corner's out there ... It was really hard. I didn't have too many opportunities down the field either. So, just being on the outside gives me more routes to run, and also, there's a lot of space out there. People think there's more space in the slot, but there's a lot more guys in there."

Beasley on what's different about this season's offense:

"Just the versatility of everyone. we have so many guys that can play multiple positions, so when we have that, we can literally move anybody anywhere. Other than that, our offense isn't much different. We'll have guys everywhere, so you won't be able to tell what we're running based on who's where."

Beasley on Dez Bryant:

"Having Dez definitely didn't limit us at all. He was one of the best receivers for a really long time. Last year, early on, it took him a while to get back to where he was, but midway through the season, he was back to being Dez. Route running for sure. He was probably a better route runner last year than I've seen in a long time."
