Beltre's Agent Expects Multiple Suitors If He Returns

ARLINGTON (105.3 The Fan) - Adrian Beltre has yet to decide if he'll be playing in 2019, but if he does, his agent Scott Boras expects him to have multiple suitors.

"We think he is a Major Leaguer who will perform at well-above-average Major League levels," Boras said Wednesday at the GM Meetings in Carlsbad, California, via T.R. Sullivan of "That means teams are interested in him. His leadership dynamic is documented and extraordinary. We fully expect Major League teams to reach out to him, and I am going to leave it up to Adrian as to whether he directs me to advance on those or not advance. He has not made that decision yet."

Beltre, who is a free agent, has expressed a desire to spend more time with his family, leading many to speculate that he will indeed hang up his cleats. The Texas Rangers didn't make a qualifying offer to Beltre but they have an interest in re-signing him if he wants to return for a 22nd season.

At the introductory press conference for manager Chris Woodward Monday, general manager Jon Daniels said the club had yet to present Beltre with their plan for him if he were to return next season. Daniels added that they expected to do that later this week.
