DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - In addition to making a playoff push down the stretch of the regular season, and the ever-heating seat of Jason Garrett grabbing the headlines, the Dallas Cowboys have a lot on their plate in terms of roster decisions going forward.

One of the biggest of those decisions involves wideout Amari Cooper, who the Cowboys traded a first-round pick for in 2018, and is due to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

As he prepares to face the Chicago Bears this Thursday, however, Cooper has made it clear that if it were strictly up to him, he would prefer to be in Dallas for the long term.

"Like I just said, I love it here,” Cooper told the media on Monday “I want to be here. I just love this situation, my teammates. I just feel it’s the place for me.”

After a frustrating first half of 2018 in Oakland, Cooper had a career resurgence in Dallas thanks to his new pairing with Dak Prescott and has become one of the league's premier pass-catching threats as a result.

That connection with Prescott, who is also up for a contract extension this offseason, looks to be playing a major factor in his desire to remain a Cowboy going forward.

“I’ve approached the situation like, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” Cooper said. “Obviously, I’m more productive here than I was in Oakland, so why would I want to change things?”

Cooper will look to continue his productive 2019 this Thursday night when the Cowboys travel to Chicago to take on the Bears at Soldier Field.
