FRISCO (105.3 THE FAN) - Michael Irvin is a Dez Bryant supporter. But as a Dallas Cowboys icon, Irvin is also a Cowboys supporter.

So his take on the Dez release and Bryant's ensuing comments on the "Garrett guys'' he believes did him wrong is valuable.

"I've talked to Dez about all of the 'Garrett Guys' before," said Irvin in an appearance on NFL Network. "He was kind of complaining to me that although these are all 'Garrett Guys', everybody does not match well with everybody in the locker room. And I said 'Dez, that's not everybody's job. You've come from a long way so you'll have an opportunity to relate to everyone on the spectrum ... Don't expect everybody to have the connectivity that you have, so do you what you have to do and don't worry about everybody else.''

Irvin is on-record as thinking the Cowboys would be "stupid'' to release Bryant, and noted that his impression, after talking with Dallas bosses, was that Bryant would be retained.

Maybe that shows, as effectively as possible, how people pretending to "know'' what was going to happen are ... pretending.

Anyway ... More Michael on Dez:

"Dez is a fighter. And what happens is when he gets in these situations, he does what he knows how to do: He fights. And if you're not careful with how you speak to him and how you speak with him, he is fighting everybody and anybody -- even some of the people trying to help him. I think that was the situation in Dallas, that it got a little bad off the football field with Dez fighting to get back to where he was, where he wants to be [and] where he belongs and I think he was fighting even the people [who] were trying to help him.''
